Insecure at the Jersey Shore

One of my friends IRL (in real life) recently started a blog called "The Young Female Professional."  I like to think that I am somewhat responsible when people who read my blog create their own (four of my friends have done it in the past few months).

But in this case, it was inevitable.

She has dated such a multitude of tragically flawed men that if she was not able to vent by putting it out in writing... I think her brain would break.

I was honored that she decided to ask me to do a guest post for her blog, so I thought I would write about why she hasn't been on a date with such an epically amazing man as me ... because I'm a wimp when it comes to approaching women at bars.  Especially bars which are packed with a myriad of creepy and aggressive dudes.

Here are some reasons that you should go read it:

  • You get to see Jersey shore bars through my eyes, which is always scary.
  • You get to see me strike out even more embarrassingly than David Wright to a Roy Halladay split-finger fastball.
  • You get to find out my real name!

But most importantly:

  • You get to check out an awesome new blog by a very funny girl who has had some crazy experiences with some one-of-a-kind dudes.  And she also gives some pretty damn good advice.

Yea, that's right.  Her bullet point gets separated from the rest.  So go read my post and then stay and check out what she has to say and follow her.  It'll be well worth your time:

    1. Sometimes I feel as if I am here for the sole purpose of teaching you interesting things, Jax.

And I feel you are here for the sole purpose of tainting my eyes with pictures of shirtless men, but then eventually making me smile.

    2. LMAO...What's wrong w/ shirtless men?

I think your theory may be correct :)

  8. I'm terrified because I have been to Jersey bars and they are full of some TOOL dudes...but when you get a nice guy who approaches you...oh it's like a breath of fresh air and always greatly appreciated. Heading over now.

  13. OK you must be writing about my life stories now. I read yours and YFP's also. Now I have to add one more to the growing lists of blogs I need to try and get too each day. They didn't have blogs back when I was going through life's experiences, oh wait I still am. Maybe I'm just too busy to write them down. Yall are gonna make my thinking juices start flowing pretty soon. Love your blogs. They make my day.

    1. Thanks for the kind words, Sheila. And don't worry, I am sure that you haven't seen the end of creepy dudes.

    2. Oh you're right about that. I still have guys 30 years younger than me wanting dates, well that's what they call it now or hook ups, whatever. My family and especially my daughter gets a big kick out of my stories, my son wants to beat them up, because of some texts I get, ahem. You're right though the creepiness neva ends but its fun. Its part of what makes life worth living.

  14. Yay! I'm excited about reading a new blog. Since I still consider myself new to this world, I'm trying to find good blogs to follow. I read your guest post and, as always, you cracked me up. Keep it coming, MikeYoung. :)

  15. I think there is always a girl like your friend in every family. I have one and oh boy, does she date the wrong guys and does she have great advice to give about it.

Nice shoot out for your friend!

  16. Love that you are being supportive of a friend and love the way you describe her. Off to have a read and to check out her blog.

I'd like to think though that there are other purposes and reasons for blogging other than ranting though.
