Many of my fellow bloggers are participating in the A to Z Challenge, in which they write 26 posts in April, each one having to do with a topic starting with each letter of the alphabet on a different day.
Among others, Stephanie, MOV, Patt Hatt, and G have decided to take on the challenge.
And I have decided to join them.
Today is April 1st, so naturally the letter I need to write about is A.
A is for...
Hmm...
A is for........
Ummm................
A is for.......................
April Fools?
Sorry folks, I give up.
I just don't have that kind of time.
I have a ton of respect for anyone trying to do this challenge, and I am greatly looking forward to reading tons of awesome posts in this coming month.
But I am lucky if I am able to get out three posts a week, which is actually a bigger goal than I originally set for myself.
Instead, this blog is really my creative outlet. If I were to write and post every day, even for just a month, I can assure you that each post would be lacking something. I'd rather let the events of my life naturally inspire me to write, rather than seeking out inspiration.
I love this blog for that reason.
Although the A-Z Challenge is extremely open-ended in that the blogger can write about whatever the hell he or she wants, I still don't like having to conform. The things I think about are generally too random, creepy, and weird.
Although being creepy doesn’t exactly flock girls here, it justifies killing literary maxims. Namely, one particularly questionable, racy subject – totally untouched via writers:

X-Rated Young Zebras!
Read the post about the sexy zebras, if you haven't already.
So good luck to everyone doing the challenge. I will be sipping cocktails and reading the wonderful posts that you are sweating to finish each day.

Although, if you think about it, I guess I already completed the April A to Z Challenge. In case you didn't notice, I'll spell it out for you:

A very clever A-Z! I'm thoroughly impressed and amazed by bloggers who post every day, or even a few times a week. I stress myself out trying to get up a single post per week. If I signed on for a challenge like this they'd have to strap me into a straitjacket and haul me away. :-o
ReplyDeleteSame here!
DeleteGood job. I wondered why you threw maxim in there. It seemed out of place, but I figured you were just being a word snob.
ReplyDeleteIt was that or "models."
DeleteHahaha my thoughts exactly
DeleteThat is one SERIOUSLY COOL sentence! If it makes you feel any better, I'll probably quit.
ReplyDeleteNo, that doesn't make me feel better. I was looking forward to a whole bunch of posts from you!
DeleteFrankly, anything with sexy zebras is entirely awesome in my book. Kudos.
ReplyDeleteThey are fine.
DeleteWhoa. I honestly didn't see that coming. o_O Good job!
ReplyDelete-Barb the French Bean
Never know when I'll sneak up on ya!
DeleteCreative post and I would rather have "the good stuff" from you than watered down versions.
ReplyDeleteYou rock with your creativity YB!
No, YOU rock!
DeleteOh that was genius!! I didn't catch on w/ the alphabet until the end, and you so got me on the April Fools. hahaha
ReplyDeleteYes, they are all doing the A-Z challenge, but I just can't. I have so many important things to discuss that I can't be constrained by the alphabet! I mean...imagine not being able to read about the eep until E day? That would be awful ;) hahaha
Hope you had a great weekend!
Yea I especially couldn't imagine having to wait until the end of the month for you to taint my eyes with topless pictures of Zac Efron.
DeleteAnd I did have a great weekend, hope you did as well.
LMAO Well, I'm not the biggest Zac Efron fan, so you'd be safe there. But there's always G for Gerard Butler. J for Jared Padalecki. Ohhh, you just gave me an idea!! Next year I should do the A-Z Challenge. A month of sexy, topless men in alphabetical order ;) See, I told you that you were a genius!! hahaha
DeleteAnd, I did, thanks :)
Last month was the most I have ever posted. I managed to put one out every two days. I even took the time to write quality posts, but it was so difficult. I don't think I will do it again. It would be possible to write every day, but I think the level of writing would be greatly diminished.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Tracie. I would rather read two great posts in one week than seven mediocre ones.
Yea, I noticed and I was happy that you were posting so much. And I didn't see your post quality suffer at all.
DeleteFor me, I write a ton in a one or two day stretch of time and have the posts ready to be published. Then take multiple days off :)
I would never have the time to post an A-Z every day...nor do I enjoy being stuck to a particular topic or letter. I suppose it's the challenge that matters but I much prefer your take on the task. Kudos for kicking the challenge's ass in one post. :)
ReplyDeleteYea, I think it is more about the community thing. Like, being a part of a collective whole and getting new followers etc.
DeleteThanks, although I would guess that I cheated according to everyone doing the actual challenge. But I can still be a part of their group for another 40 minutes.
I thought about doing this challenge last year.
ReplyDeleteAfter sitting in front of my laptop for hours, I got stuck on "A is for Anal..." and decided not to go down that road.
I'm too much of a free spirit to be confined by the alphabet. Bravo for outsmarting it.
Thanks.
DeleteAlthough I am pretty sure it is more laziness than outsmarting.
Oh. My god. You are such a cheater and I feel like I should be irritated that you cheated us but I can't help but be more impressed than cheated and like giving you a high five. If I were the type to give high fives. Which I'm not. So how bout just a "Well done Sir" and leave it at that?
ReplyDeleteI think that this is a fair conclusion to reach, and I high-five you for reaching it.
DeleteI tried to do the Ultimate Blog challenge back in Feb. It's similar in that you blog every day for a month, but there are no letters involved. And you can blog about anything you want. Well, that started on April first...again. I didn't make it back in Feb. I doubt I would make it now. (A sinus infection got wind that I was trying to do something creative and tried to kill me. I took the hint.) Anyway, I agree with writing as it comes. By about day 10 I was so wiped for ideas I found myself going and getting in trouble just to have something to write about. The ppl I live with were not happy. They may have given me the sinus infection. On purpose. I could do A-Z but on my own time. I don't think I would make it through another try.
ReplyDeleteA for effort though! (See what I did there?)
DeleteHa ha! Love your take on the A-Z challenge.
ReplyDeleteLike you, I have the most respect for anyone taking part but I doubt people would want to read 26 days, of me talking about insects and a psychotic child.
I would!
DeleteI applaud your honesty.

Thank you, sir.
DeleteI had no idea that zebras could be so sexy. And look, not even spilling the wine on the rug.
ReplyDeleteOh, they are quite sexy.
DeleteLOVE your take on the challenge. It isn't for everyone, and that's okay. The world and blogging would be a dull place if everyone did the same thing.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more!
DeleteB is for BooYah! Nice work! I thought about the A-Z but frankly one challenge was enough for the year.
ReplyDeleteI don't blame you at all, man. Although I enjoyed when you were pumping posts out!
DeleteC is for cool job. I'm a one up commenter. :)
ReplyDeleteEither that, or you live in the future!
DeleteHa, you got me. And another follower at that. Thanks for stopping by my blog.
ReplyDeleteNo problem, I love your premise for the challenge!
DeleteHaha, very clever! I'll have trouble with posting daily, too. Three a week for me is a rarity, so I'm really up against the fence with the A to Z Challenge. We'll see...Thanks for stopping by my blog. New follower.
ReplyDeleteLikewise :)
DeleteI had not heard of this challenge. It sounds like something I would do, although I'm not doing it.
ReplyDeleteThe first "A" that came to mind was "Alderaan" ...you know Princess Leia's home planet. So my alphabet month would probably end up being a Star Wars alphabet.
But there's too much real life going on for me to try that. Maybe someday. Maybe I'll start writing them as they come to me, then post them consecutively after they're all done!
Oh just save em up for next year!
DeleteYou reminded me of a funny story that just happened to me a couple months ago regarding Alderaan, but I think I will save it for a future blog post.
Clever and economical. Sir, I salute you!
ReplyDeletePearl
And I salute you back!
DeleteI caught on to the XYZ part, but never even noticed the rest of the alphabet. I thought about doing this but I have enough trouble posting 3x a week.
ReplyDeleteI figured that the last three letters would be picked up on by most people.
DeletePosting three times a week is tough!
I totally missed it. HAHAHAHA. I was too distracted by the picture! And, since this is my first time to your blog, I thought maybe that was just your way of writing "literary maxims" ... very funny! I'm a follower now. :)
ReplyDeleteThe picture is quite distracting. Thanks!
DeleteThat's brilliant! :)
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteClever post!
ReplyDeleteThank you for coming by my blog. :)

Twas my pleasure. As I said, your blog is hella interesting.
DeleteLOL great one. I got Rick-Rolled. Sexy Zebras? Never thought I'd see the day. LOL
ReplyDeleteSorry for the Rick-Roll!
Deletethe whole A-Z thing seemed like a great idea before I was late getting home today due to traffic and then the wife wanted to go shopping... it's going to be a stressful month...X-Rated Young Zebras might have to be called on.
ReplyDeleteI grant you permission to write about them on your "X" day.
DeleteHear hear, brother. I have enough trouble as it is getting two of these things put out a week. Excellent job cramming the alphabet into one quick sprint. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteYes, but the two that you get out are always of the highest caliber.
DeleteI loved your alphabet! I understand what you mean about your blog being your creative outlet and not wanting to conform. Good for you! But I do appreciate you stopping by and following my blog. Thank you :)
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure.
DeleteLOL I'm sort of a cheater anyway. I just write what I want and then find a word it in and say for D it's "this," to heck with conforming the cat will never conform. Or sweat either because the cat is all done the A to Z and doing posts for May. Being a rhyming loon has it's strong points..haha
ReplyDeleteHaha good for you! I am always trying to stay ahead, but it doesn't always work out.
DeleteYou sneaky bastard! Ha, I love your A to Z post... and I bet you love the fact that you're done with that. :)
ReplyDeleteAh yes, it does feel as if a weight has been lifted :)
DeleteI admire your honesty. I'm new to the A to Z Challenge. I think that someone like you would spice things up & bring in a very unique voice. Thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteMaybe next year :)
DeleteI hear ya! I'm lucky if I'm able to get out one post a week. My goal is usually two but here lately, one a week is all I can muster up. But I always believed that quality is more important than quantity.
ReplyDeleteVery clever way to cover A-Z all in one post!
Quality > quantity for sure.
DeleteAnd now I have such respect for you. That you recognize your limitations and stick to your principles in a situation where a lesser man (that would be me) plunges deeper and deeper into the abyss of sleeplessness and last-minute writing, even though he should have learned better after last year.
ReplyDeleteI also rarely conform (as anyone who's seen my dancing will attest), but I give in for the A to Z, since I like the idea of it. Well done with yours, by the way; far more natural-sounding than many entered into my contest last C-Day.
You may not be posting every day this month, but you've caught my attention (or maybe it was the zebras). I'll be back for more.
Awesome, thanks for the kind words.
DeleteAnd again, much respect to you for loving "Boomtown."
Awesome, amazing, wonderful. Love this so much.
ReplyDeleteI agreed to the A-Z thingy, got caught in the buzz and then decided that I dont want to be pushing to write to a theme every single day.
April is busy enough and I dont want to end up hating my blog
Bravo.
Yea, there are some days where I hate my blog too. It would suck to have it be that way for a month.
DeleteI would hate for you to hate your blog too. I would miss not visiting you every day. Oh and kudos on the A-Z challenge. Verrrry clever.
